How can i learn the chinese languages mandarin & cantonese ?
How can I learn the chinese languages mandarin & cantonese ? I don't have any money to go into an extra class in my school or to take classes outside of school, how can I learn these languages ? There is an chinese girl in school who i want to date so i want to learn chinese to talk to her.

You should find out which one she speaks so you don’t end up wasting your time. She might not even speak either of them. Two of my Chinese friends only know these local dialects from their parents’ hometown.

Learn which dialect she speaks.If you live in the US she might not even speak it.

If you want to learn Mandarin, chinesepod.com gives you free access to all their lessons for 10 days. Download all the basic lessons and then take your time going through them.
Make sure you practice listening and speaking. Since you want to talk to this Chinese girl – and understand what she says to you, focus on the speech.
If you try to learn the characters, or written Chinese symbols, or even pinyin (english letters that represent Chinese words) you might get too overloaded.
