By teaching them something fun or something that they want to learn. This is how it is done in Kindergarten.
Food, play, short poems (remember Seuss), Chinese things like chopsicks, noodles, mother, dad. Sing, color or draw but do not spend so much time that it will loose their attention. Take breaks for exercise.

For any children and any language, Alphabets are the basics, teach them tne alphabets and rhyms. Rhyms are basically to remember the alphabets

i would start with the basics. You know like the ABC’s and how each letter sounds like. You also want to use big, colorful letters, something to get the kid’s attention. I would also give rewards to the kids that have good behavior and participation, but don’t forget to give out warnings to them. I may not be a teacher but i hope this has helped

Take a course at your local university or college. Its called teaching English as a second language. With this course they will be able to help you learn to teach children and adults of other languages how to speak English. I wouldn’t recommend trying to teach something that you don’t know how to teach.

I think the best way to start is with picture books of things they already know in their own language so that they make the association. At that age, they are very open to learning new things and you should not find it more difficult than teaching a two-year old to speak the same words – they’ll catch up very quickly.

Keep their interest with games and activities that involve identifying the objects and toys they are playing with in English.

As for tantrums, all kids are alike! Try to learn rudimentary chinese to communicate with them – you can even make it bi-latteral learning – you’d be learning chinese at the same age-level as they’re learning the english.

    Have fun!

    Toodles.

The same way we teach Pre-K or Kindergarten
Go through some Kindergarten teaching lessons and teach them from there-
    I think the ABC’s first
To get kids attention make it fun, musical, colorful, have them sing, color, draw, trace letters, and make sure you dont spend too much time on one subject
Dont forget they are KIDS who like to play and pretend and run and have fun
