That is not the purpose of the language pack. It is to allow Chinese characters to be input and displayed.

I am not aware of any program that translates directly from English to Chinese pinyin (the official romanisation system) There are however several online services where you can paste in the Chinese characters and get the pinyin. See the link below for one example.

By the way, the romanisation of 你好吗? is nǐ hǎo ma ?

try yahoo babel fish. do a search on it so you can translate chinese to english and vice versa. keep your chinese language pack so you can view and also write real chinese. Once you use a translator you will want to write in chinese so they will understand you and take their characters and translate them to english. Babel fish can also translate chinese web pages but you must use it online for all translations. You can buy Systran which can be used without being online but it is about 150 usa. It is ok but none are perfect. Expect to rewrite sentences a different way somwtimes so they will understand you but it is acceptable. My wife is chinese and when we met she knew no english at all. I also bought a small calculator sized translator for about 70 usa in China for using in places with no electricty such as cars and taxis. We prefer using Systran on the laptop since it is faster to type. Ni hao ma is pinyin. Pinyin is a way to pronounce chinese words. I doubt you will find a pinyin translator. Your chinese friend will use pinyin to teach you how to pronounce chinese words. If you want to say chinese words try rosetta stone. It is great and taught me how to speak chinese and my wife to speak english. I paid 1000 usa for both full programs or 500 each.
