If I’m Chinese and I take MAndarin for my foreign language credits, will colleges accept it?
MY friend says if you're asian and you take Mandarin as a foreign language in high school, good colleges won't like it or even accept it.
I don't know Mandarin though.

That is pretty lazy.
yes they will take it.
it’s just the fact that you know a 2nd language is what they look for.
Yeah I don’t suggest taking a language that you already know or vaguely know.
The more diversity the better. Remember if you want to accepted into a University you have to have DIVERSITY. Haha I just made that up.
I suggest taking Latin or maybe French like me. I’m Filipino and take French in high school people look at me weird but HEY! DIVERSITY =).
You don’t have to claim your ethnic background when applying to colleges. if they leave it open for you to answer, put American. They will accept it as credits, because you learned in a classroom environment. Just because you’re Asian doesn’t mean you know how to speak Mandarin. It could very well be a way of connecting with your culture in a way you didn’t get to before that opportunity.
it doesn’t matter
colleges are supposed to ignore what race you are now
it used to ask what race u were when you applied but now in all applications it doesn’t ask
so when they go over your transcript, they won’t know if you’re chinese or not
btw asian includes india and russia, not just china
tell that to ur buddy there
They won’t like it because they’ll think you took the class just to get an easy credit but of course they will give you credit if you pass the course. They have to be fair to you regardless of whether or not they think the class was too easy for you.
It depends on the school, but honestly, you should’ve tried something else (it looks kinda bad- it might affect admissions b/c there are plenty of other Asians who decided to take Spanish or German instead and obviously they had to leave their comfort zone more than you had to).
Get out of your comfort zone and take something else.
