Cantonese is just a dialet which mainly used in Guangzhou ( the capital city of Guangdong province ) and her vincity and also HongKong.
Cantonese also stands for the people who have the Guangdong ancestry.
Just in Guangdong provinces, there are many dialets. I was born in hongkong and I only know cantonese and mandarin and dont understand the other dialets of guangdong province.
I rarely hear cantonese people say that to foreigners that he/she is a cantonese-chinese, since canton (guangdong ) is not a famous place in the world and it may even confuses people.
However, hongkong is more well-known, and more people know where it is, so sometimes i would say i am a hongkong chinese to give more detail about myself.
Cantonese is a language. I believe the mainlanders used Mandrin, while Taiwanese used Cantonese. Correct me if I’m wrong.. I often get them mixed up. However I do know that one is for the mainlander Chinese people, while the other one is for the Taiwanese people.
Cantonese is a language and there is Mandarin Chinese which I can speak a litlle! So this guy is half and half which is rare like I’m half Chinese and half Chinese whcih is very rare too!
